Friday Fun Flights #13! Our Weekly Summary of the Weird, the Whacky, and the Wonderful Things with The Drones Up There!
#13 already! That’s the bad luck number!
For the fun of it, we’ll just start out with a drone fail video. We couldn’t resist!
With that bit of levity out of the way, let’s move on.
Remember that missing Latvian drone that shut down the nations airspace that we reported last week? They found it. It was resting: what a fantastic headline! Plus they had to call the fire department to help retrieve it.
For a heartwarming and simple story, here’s a good use of drone technology in this time of crisis:
How about another inspiring story: how about this plan to fix the gender imbalance in the drone industry through an innovative “1000 Drones for 1000 girls” initiative to help accelerate STEM education initiatives!

To another topic, we love it when mainstream media provides fascinating insight into the world of drone technology, and hence, this BBC news report was a great find! Not only did it cover how defibrillators were being delivered from the sky, but at 00:45 in the video, you can see how a Canadian company is exploring how to plant seed pods in the ground – via drone!

On the other hand, we are headed for a world in which one day, somewhere, a drone will be used for a high profile crime – perhaps an intentional shooting such as an assassination. Regulators are already thinking about this issue:
Of course, at the same time, we’ll see the development and deployment of a lot of automated drones as part of corporate, government and other security systems. Watch this!
Let’s close off here by going back to our original ‘unlucky 13’ theme from the start with compilation of what happens when drones and buildings meet in unfortunate circumstances:
The post is full of unfortunate circumstances, including this one:
Have a fun and safe week everyone!
